ALBANY-DENMARK

 5 Day Hostel or Camping Tour

“Where Seas Pound a Rugged Coastline”

DAY 1 Depart school at 7.30am, travel Albany Highway to Kojonup for lunch, then on to Mt Barker where we try some hands-on fun at the Agricultural School. Arriving at Albany at approx. 4.00pm, we set up camp.

DAY 2 Morning tour of the Residency Museum, ‘Brig Amity’ and ‘See and Touch’ Museum. We lunch at Mt Clarence before heading for the Old Forts & Old Goal for a guided tour.

DAY 3 We head for Denmark with our first stop at the Pentland Alpaca Stud, where there are lots of hands-on activities with the large variety of animals. Next we head towards Walpole and the Valley of the Giants for our guided timber top walk. A short stop in Denmark township before we return to Albany.

DAY 4 Travel along Frenchman’s Bay Road to the Cheynes Beach Whaling Station and Ship for our morning inspection (includes video on Whaling). Visit Newhills Harbour, the spectacular Gap and Natural Bridge where we have Lunch. In the afternoon we travel back to Albany for a visit to the very interesting Telecommunications Museum (hands on fun) followed by a town walk (do a little souvenir shopping), before returning to camp.

DAY 5 Return to Perth via Albany Highway. Arrive backat school at approximately 3.30pm.

 5 DAY CAMPING TOUR

“Experience the Magic of a Lush Green Forest”

DAY 1 Depart school at 7.30am, travel South to Bunbury and visit the Dolphin Discovery Centre (video & work sheets) and hopefully see some Dolphins. After Lunch we travel to Manjimup where we set up camp.

DAY 2 We start the day with a guided tour of the Manjimup Timber Mill then on to the Timber Mill Museum and Lunch in the Park. This afternoon we go on our Forest Discovery Tour starting with a video (full commentary & work sheets) covering milling, regeneration and diseases. Back to camp.

DAY 3 An early start and we head for Pemberton with our first stop at the famous Gloucester Tree (World’s tallest Fire Lookout tree viewing platform 61 mtrs). From here we take a Forest Walk to the Cascades where we meet up with the Coach and have a picnic lunch and water play. After lunch we board the Pemberton Tramway for our scenic Train Ride back into Pemberton. Next we view the town’s natural Swimming Pool and tour the Trout & Marron Hatchery. Back to camp.

DAY 4 It’s off to Walpole with this morning guided tour of the thur the Valley of the Giants. (Work sheets). Lunch at the refreshing Fern Hook Falls picnic area. Back to camp via Northcliffe where we visit the interesting Pioneer Museum. Set in the Old School House, it holds intriguing artefacts and photos (work sheets). Last night of camp (Concert).

DAY 5 Pack & clean up camp and head for Perth, with lunch along the way. Arrive back at school at approx. 3.00pm.
