The Go West contracts team have been busy attending to enquiries and negotiating for solid long term contracts.

With recent wins in The Pilbara, Midwest and South West, Go West will be looking at recruiting more bus drivers and mechanics for up and coming contracts.

Two Go West drivers have been praised for their approach to safety.

Peter Newman and Jeremy Barc drive Rio Tinto employees from Meekatharra to the Hope Downs One site and were congratulated by Sodexo Senior Health, Safety and Environment Specialist Toni Wittstock for their knowledge and “high regard for safety and those around them”.

Go West Operations Manager Justin Miller congratulated Peter and Jeremy for their diligence and playing a pivotal role in the route risk assessment and journey management plan.

“Sodexo, Rio Tinto and Go West managers and health and safety teams had an extensive meeting before the contract started and it is pleasing that the drivers picked up where the meeting left off, seamlessly implementing the new route service with a professional and conscientious approach to health and safety,” Justin said.

Courses at Go West’s new bus academy are up and running.

Go West has partnered with government and private companies to hold the four day bus driver training.

The bus academy started in April to upskill drivers for clients Rio Tinto, Sodexo and the Job Find Network, with courses in Bunbury, Geraldton and Perth.

Go West will also put its drivers through the course which is a module in the Certificate Three in Bus and Coach Operations.

Growing demand in luxury rental cars in the South West has prompted Go West Tours to acquire six new Audis for its Hertz fleet.

The high end Q2, Q5 and Q7 editions are proving to be very popular for weddings, special events and winery winter escapes.

“We have noticed a gradual, but definite improvement in the economy with a number of enquiries for luxury rental cars from visitors coming to the South West,” said Hertz South West Location Manager Rebecca Seinemeier.

There are some last minute seats available on the Go West bus to the top of the table clash between the Eagles and Richmond on Sunday May 20. The bus leaves at 11.30am from the Bunbury Football Club and returns after the final siren.
