 5 DAY CAMPING TOUR

“Amazing Memorabilia of the Goldrush Days”

DAY 1 Depart school at 7.30am. Travel the Great Eastern Highway, with an inspection of the Cunderdin Pumping Station Museum en route. After lunch we continue on through the wheat belt to Southern Cross (Yilgarn Goldfield) and Coolgardie (Eastern Goldfield) arriving at Kalgoorlie, where we set up camp.

DAY 2 Today we try our hand at Gold Prospecting. We travel out to a claim sight where we learn the art of gold panning and try our luck at finding gold (instruction and equipment supplied). On our way back to camp we visit the interesting Two Up School and learn the old fashioned art of losing money. We have a clean up and swim in the pool.

DAY 3 A full day is spent in Coolgardie starting with the excellent Goldfields Exhibition in the Old Courthouse (Gold Fever Video included). After lunch we inspect the Railway Station. Ben Prior’s Open Air Museum and the Cemetery, before our tour of the Coolgardie Camel Farm to learn about these interesting desert dwellers and try our hand at riding one.

DAY 4 This morning we visit the Goldminer’s Hall of Fame for an Underground Tour (including gold pour). Lunch in Hammond Park then out to view the new Super Pit (Super Large Open Cut Mine). Next we visit the interesting Museum of the Goldfields (work sheets) after which we have a stroll down Hannan Street with time for some Souvenir Shopping. Last Night.

DAY 5 An early morning departure for Perth. Arrival time at School approximately 3.00pm

 

KALGOORLIE – WAVE ROCK

5 Day Camping Tour

“Fascination in the Outback”

DAY 1 Depart school 7.30am, travel East via Corrigin & Kondinin to Hyden, set up camp and have lunch. The afternoon is spent exploring Wave Rock, Hippo’s Yawn and other interesting geological formations in the area.

DAY 2 Our destination today is Kalgoorlie, traveling via Marvel Lock & Southern Cross to Coolgardie where we stop for lunch in the Park. This afternoon we visit the excellent Goldfields Exhibition in the Old Courthouse (Gold Fever Video included), then it’s on to the Coolgardie Camel Farm to learn about these interesting desert dwellers and try our hand at riding one. On to Kalgoorlie and set up camp.

DAY 3 This morning we visit the Goldminer’s Hall of Fame for an Underground Tour (including gold pour). Lunch in Hammond Park then out to view the new Super Pit (Super Large Open Cut Mine). DAY 4 A full morning is spent on an Aboriginal Cultural Tour [Kangaroo & Emu tracking, hunting for Witchety Grubs & bush tucker, learn Aboriginal culture & songs, cook Kangaroo & damper Aboriginal Style]. After lunch we take a guided tour of both the Royal Flying Doctor and the Weather Bureau. Back to camp for last night concert preparations.

DAY 5 An early morning departure for home after packing & cleaning up the campsite. With lunch on the way, we arrive back at School at approx. 3.00pm.
