Melissa Macnish is the new shutdown coordinator for BHP in Newman.
She has an extensive background in transport operations, especially bussing in high-demand environments such as oil and gas and defence.
Mel previously owned and operated a bus company and understands how to support the driving team to engage professionally with clients while maintaining excellent relationships with clients.
“This experience is crucial to the BHP shutdowns program where our client requires the safest and most competent of operations,” said Go West Shutdown Mobilisation Manager Andrew Horan.
“Mel is already diving into the work and was put to the test on her first swing for the Whaleback mine shutdown.
“Without a doubt, this is our most complex project and Mel shone through getting to know the operations, drivers and BHP contacts to ensure we delivered a smooth service whilst maintaining efficiency.”
Mel will work fly in-fly out, returning to Perth every fortnight where she enjoys spending time with her first grandchild.
